Courtney Schaefer, MSW, LCSW, RPT

•Are you looking for support with your children?

•Would you like to be able to filter the parenting messages that bombard you from schools, doctors, media, and even friends and family members?

•Are you interested in learning how to help your children deal with their emotions and behaviors?

I am honored to have worked with families like yours for more than twenty years to help children through a variety of emotional and developmental issues, while at the same time supporting families.

My specific areas of expertise include issues related to divorce, death and dying, ADD/ADHD, trauma, attachment issues, school and learning issues, behavior and social skills.  I’ve worked with children of all ages—toddlers through teens. No matter the age of the child, however, I believe it is important to build a team with the entire family unit in order to bring about positive change.

My practice centers on play therapy, a highly successful approach to helping children develop skills while strengthening family relationships.  Play therapy refers to a wide variety of treatment methods, all of which incorporate the use of play. And, although play therapy is highly successful, each child and each situation are unique. The specific therapy approach used is always determined based upon the needs of the individual child and his or her family.

I would welcome the opportunity to talk with you about your child and your specific needs and concerns. To contact me via email, click here. Also, feel free to browse this website for more information about my practice, my experience and about play therapy.
